What it is, how you get it, and why you should want it!
One thing that sets TikTok apart from other apps, is its support for creators. The better your performance is on the platform, the more they are there to support and celebrate you.
To show support, TikTok launched the Creator Fund, announcing they want all creators to have the opportunity to earn money doing what they love and turn their passion into a livelihood.
Whether you’re new to the platform and looking for what’s possible, or you’re over 100K followers and ready to benefit, here is everything you need to know about the Creator Fund.
What is the TikTok Creator Fund?
TikTok’s Creator Fund is a fund to compensate creators for their content. Creators receive funds based on a variety of factors from their videos.
Just as your content may fluctuate in performance, so will your earnings.
Who is eligible for the Fund?
In 2020, TikTok committed £231 million over the next three years to the Creator Fund. If successful, it may branch its reach out to creators in other countries.
Currently, creators who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply to the Creator Fund:
- Are based in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, or Italy.
- Are at least 18 years old
- Have at least 10,000 followers
- Have at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
- Have an account that fits TikTok’s Community Guidelines and terms of service
How are your earnings calculated?
Think of one big pot of money. The funds are divided up each day between the creators who have been approved to benefit. If less of those creators post that day, more funds will be available to those who do. If everyone posts that day, your funds will likely be less. The good news is, there is no maximum amount of money that you can earn per day. The sky’s the limit!
TikTok uses a combination of factors to calculate your earnings, including:
- Views
- Authenticity of views
- Engagement level
- Is content in line with their Community Guidelines and Terms of Service
Can joining the Creator Fund negatively impact videos views or followers?
Absolutely not! Joining the Creator Fund will have no impact on the performance of your videos.
How do creators apply for the TikTok Creator Fund?
To apply, you must submit your Creator Fund application within the TikTok app through your pro/creator account.
Once logging into your account, go to your account settings and select “Creator Tools.” Under “Creator Next,” you’ll see the “Creator Fund.” This is where you apply.
Although the Creator Fund can be a great benefit, the funds can be inconsistent and depending on the performance of your content and number of creators in the program publishing that day, funds can be pretty low.
So, does it make sense for you to apply? If you qualify, absolutely! Just keep in mind that if you’re a TikToker looking to make the big bucks, don’t rely solely on the Creator Fund.
TikTok continues to strive towards supporting creators financially and compensating them for their hard work. Keep an eye on our channels for regular updates on TikTok and more!
