High-Tea with Chef Keith Pears

Join us at the Sulwhasoo event with Chef Keith Pears

Earlier this month, Keith Pears was asked by skincare brand Sulwhasoo to be the chef and teacher for the launch of their new skincare products that include ginseng. This was a high-tea event that included 30 of Toronto’s top skincare influencers.

Food presentation

Chef Keith was tasked to create a Korean high-tea-inspired menu which included three savoury bites and three sweet bites. The menu also had to incorporate ginseng in most of the food fare. This was to connect to the brand’s focus and main product because ginseng has been shown to prevent the look of ageing and help alleviate redness and puffiness.

To make this event more interactive, attendees had a fun cooking class with Chef Keith. Since the event was at Cirillo’s Culinary Academy, there were already established designated cooking stations for each group. This 1-hour class taught the influencers to create a Korean potato salad and a Sulwhasoo-branded macaron with orange ginseng butter creme all from scratch! Chef Keith would walk around to answer any questions or aid anyone who needed culinary assistance.
Food selection

Once everyone created the two dishes, the chefs and Cirillo’s Academy helpers plated the creations alongside the other four bites that Keith’s sous-chef helped prep during the class. Once guests took their seats, out-came the high-tea towers filled with delicious bites. What was on the menu?

  • Beyond Meat Slider with Ginseng Aioli
  • Samgyetang Ginseng Chicken Nigiri
  • Scone with Red Bean and Whipped Butter
  • Ginseng and Black Sesame Tiramisu with Yakgwa
  • Korean Potato Salad
  • Orange Ginseng Mocha Macarons
  • Ginseng Elixir Mocktail

Once the plates were all done, guests got to take home a party favour and a recipe card of the two dishes they made. Overall, the event was a hit.
