Just as you can earn revenue from your YouTube videos, you can also earn cash from your YouTube Shorts. Monetize that short-form content with these simple steps.
Umm wait, what is monetization?
Monetization is the process of making money on something you have personally created. In this case, as a content creator on YouTube, you can earn revenue on your YouTube Shorts based on a few key factors:
- Becoming a member of the YouTube Partner Programme (We will get into what this is).
- Revenue ads sharing.
Now to start earning revenue.
If you’re a creator who is part of the program, then feel free to skip this section, but if you’re not, then stay tuned for this knowledge bomb!
Creators can apply to be part of the YouTube Partner Programme (also known as the YPP) under the requirements of having 1,000 subscribers and 10 million shorts views over the past 90 days of uploading shorts content.
After you’re approved, being the successful creator you are, you can review and accept the terms of revenue ad sharing and earn money through ads viewed between your shorts in the shorts feed.
To find the YouTube Shorts monetization agreement, go to the “earn” tab in YouTube Studio and click on “get started” in the “shorts feed ads.” Here you can accept the terms.
So how do I access my earnings?
At the end of each month, YouTube will add all the revenue from these ads used to pay creators, and the overall amount creators will collect will be 45% of the revenue earned from their shorts. The amount of money you will accumulate as a creator will also come down to the number views your YouTube Shorts receive in each country they are viewed.
View your YouTube Shorts analytics and earnings by going to your YouTube Studio’s revenue tab. This tab will show you a daily report of revenue and views on each short. Soon enough you will see the creativity of your content pay off… literally!
