Trending sounds allow you to participate in the conversation and increase the discovery of your content, but if the audio doesn’t make your video better, then it won’t do any magic.
How do I know what type of sound to use?
Aim for your audio to compliment your content, rather than as an attempt to increase the possibility of it going viral.
Choosing a trending sound just for the sake of it tends to be unsuccessful and should never be considered as a quick way to increase views.

So even if it’s not instantaneous, there is potential for discovery later on (long after the trending audio is no longer trending).
TikTok tries to provide a diverse range of content on your FYP, so they do not show two videos with the same audio back-to-back. If your original audio works well with your content, then it has the chance of breaking through the audio that everyone else is using.
What are the benefits to using trending audio?
Audio trends for a reason – people like it! The more it’s trending, the bigger the chance that people will be interested in the audio on your content. And as users are scrolling through that audio’s content page, it gives your content more of a chance to be seen (but only if the audio works well with your video).
So, which audio should I use?
Before you select any audio, ask yourself… is this going to make my video better?
If the answer is no, or it doesn’t make a big difference, then think again. Choose a song that pairs better with your video, or leave your original audio to shine on its own.
The golden rule of TikTok is: great content will have great performance. It may just take time to be discovered. So focus on creating great content, and less about audio “hacks”.
